Eclipse Phase - Anarres

First In - Killer Lizards

This is Gatecrash team Killer Lizards. We’re definitely seeing something like plant life in the immediate area here, and we’re getting movement pings from the recon bots. This place might not be Earth level, but we’ve still got life everywhere. After running the scans a bit longer, I’ll go ahead and try taking off my helmet. It’s gonna be a little hot, but nothing too bad, and we’re still not picking up anything nasty in the air. Hope we’re getting some serious Rep here.

Follow-up - Silver Angels

Silver Angels reporting in. Everything’s checking out just like you said. We’ve seen some man-sized fauna already, pretty weird-looking, but definitely animaloid. Maybe dormant though, need to get someone who knows this stuff better. Based on what the Satmap’s showing us, there’s a lot more water than land here, and I bet the sea must be teeming with life. Too bad the Gate’s so far from it, but we’ll be there before too long and check it out.

Building - Miranda Garcia

This is colonial civil engineer Miranda Garcia. We ran the numbers over and over, but it just doesn’t make sense to build by the gate. It’s going to be an annoyance to shuttle back and forth like this, but the alternate spot has too many advantages. With the constant, one-directional wind, the cliff face is going to be a big boon, and you can never be too close to water. The workers are already starting to convert some of the beach for more stability, and then we can start making more permanent structures. I’m glad we’ve got enough power along for constant light, it’s about to be dark for a long time.

Logistics - Miranda Garcia

Garcia reporting in again. Nothing really new to report. After those first few hiccups, things have been going smoothly. The new hauler has been a big help, and we’re finally at what I’d consider a reasonable, livable point for synths. If you want to send in that preliminary science team, it’s got my approval now.

Trouble - Mek

Hey, problem here. Oh, this is Mek, been handlin’ base security sort of. We got really attacked just a few hours ago. Crazy things, fast, big, sensors didn’t get much of a readin’. Took down a few of the synths, though the egos are fine, and did a number on one of the tin cans. We’re gonna need an early supply run to fix stuff up, and more security would be cool too. Garcia’s been grumpin’ about not gettin’ stuff we need even before this. Some sort of problem goin’ on back there, or just expecting us to handle it?

Resources - Dr. Ajit Sarin

I understand that resources are limited, but what is the point of sending a xenobiologist without the ability to study this planet’s major habitat? Yes, the land creatures are fascinating, but limited, and the ocean is where the truly biological riches are found. The Gatecrashing team clearly had a submersible vehicle, based on these tantalizing recordings, I find it hard to believe the colony can’t have the same. This is the sort of thing that makes me question leaving Mars.

Jackpot - Dave Sumner

Bet you’ll like hearing this. We’ve found ruins here, and we don’t think they’re Ikatomi either. There’s a sprawling habitat built into the side of a canyon. We’ve done some drone recon, but we really need the supplies for a proper base over there. The thing looks like it might be in pretty good shape too, the chance of valuable alien loot is high. So, mind sending us more people and blueprints?

Operational - Dr. Maja Lindburg

First log of the new research outpost, Head Researcher Lindburg. The alien habitation is remarkably intact, though the conditions are unpleasant. The structure is built into a cliff face, dug deep into the stone. The walls are made of a Tungsten alloy to withstand the intense heat they seem to have been purposefully generating. Mek’s Salamander synths perform admirably, but it will take time to develop heat-resistant versions of all the equipment we require.

Missing Person - Lt. Berg

Lt. Berg reporting in. Dr. Lindburg just informed me that they’ve lost Dr. Sarin somewhere in the ruins. How they managed that, I don’t know, but she sounds pretty sure about it. I knew those ruins were trouble, we shouldn’t have been exploring them already. I’ll have a full report once I go over the info myself, but looks like we have our first missing person case.

Expanding - Isaak Oserov

Despite Lt. Berg’s objections, I believe the colony is now stable, and sufficiently safe for additional personnel. I recently received word from you that the new colonist screening is completed, and I’d appreciate them being sent through as soon as possible. We have our basic infrastructure, we require specialists to move on to the next step.
