Eclipse Phase - Anarres

Report from Dr. Lindburg

I’ve been looking closely over Yi’s data. As much as I hate to admit it, I think she has something here. She just swooped in, figured out something we’d been struggling with for months, then went off to go party or something. I believe she must have used some of the Mindbending of hers, which is highly questionable itself, but it’s hard to argue with results. Expect to see greatly accelerated understanding of the aliens in the coming weeks.

Report from Miranda Garcia

Hey, Garcia here. Citla’s drawn out some spots for new mining operations. No problem with the basic building, but we’re gonna need at least a base level defense setup around each one, and maybe some active personell while I get everything running. Just letting you know each of these sites may be drawing people away for at least a few days, and we’re going to burn through more resources well before we start making it back. Definitely still a good plan, mind you.

Report from Spark

I have intercepted a second pulse from the small moon Takver. It is definitely a laser transmission. As you recall, I believed I had spotted one once before, but had not been scanning for it specifically. Now I have confirmation. I still can see nothing on the Takver surface itself, but there has to be something there, transmitting. I have a rough idea of the beam’s target point, and have uploaded the coordinates. It is in the general vicinity of ARC’s operation.

Report from Lt. Berg

Lt. Berg reporting.

It sounds like both Commander Lubchenko and Mek may be going to the event at the Luminous Allure Colony. This leaves us notably understaffed, security-wise. I want a few of the Exdents put on patrol duty for the duration.

Colony News

News of the Day!

New Arrivals!

Will they provide needed support for the brave individuals of Anarres Colony? Will the social order adjust to the influx of new personalities? Will Anarres Colony survive this highly expected development? Probably. Interviews follow.

Spark: You are Rex Razor, Action Doctor.
RRAD: Yeah, definitely am. Er, was that what you wanted to ask?
Spark: You have encountered the newcomers. What challenges do we face?
RRAD: Oh, yeah, I met a few of them. I’ve been really eager to have Yi Tau around, one reptile can’t do everything on xir own, you know? I bet we’ll make a great science team, I’ve got tons to show her. And we got the water guys in too, which is great, I’ve been real antsy about getting my claws on some of the deep water life on this rock. Can you imagine what freaky stuff has to be down there?
Spark: No, I cannot. And what of the infamous Sion Pax, “The One Who Came Back”?
RRAD: Do they call him that? That’s not bad, kind of theatrical though. But sure, I met him too. He seems fine, not too Titany from what I can see. Hey, I’ve been a crasher for about as long as anybody, and I can say these things just happen. Adventure is a dangerous business, and sometimes you get devoured by a great evil! But sometimes it’s okay. We’re all keeping an eye on him anyway though.
Spark: Time will tell.

One Soldier’s Opinion

I’m cautiously optimistic about the new team. Commander Lubchenko should make it far easier to keep things safe and steady around here, and we’ve certainly been needing more personell in the other fields. I was pleased to see that they all visited the Outpost so quickly. The sooner we uncover what’s going on there, the sooner we can worry about some other mystery.

Meet Fluke!

Hey all, this is Fluke. You might’ve seen me as the big orcabot waddling around the colony today. Well, I’m the new Underwater Operations specialist, and I’m planning to get to work on that deep sea outpost you want right away. I’m already going over what you have so far and should begin working with Ms. Garcia within the next couple days. With a little luck, there might be a semi-working structure down there in less than a week! So, if I don’t seem too talkative, it’s just because I’ll be really busy for a bit. Belly rubs are still appreciated.

Shocking Events!

Tomorrow, the 22nd, at 8:pm Sol, the Carnival of the Goat delegation that arrived a few days back is sponsoring a party at the Luminous Allure Colony. If you enjoy disgusting displays of sexual meat anatomy as well as artistically rendered synthkink sculpture, both will be present in quantity.

Arrivals - Lt. Berg

The new security expert is arriving later today, along with the rest of the new recruits. Hopefully he’ll back up my caution, I like what I see in his bio, as long as he doesn’t go overboard with it. Are you sure about Sion Pax though? His rep checks out, but Rex says he’s practically a walking ghost story for crashers. I guess that means he’s extra qualified, but I don’t see this ending well. Just wanted to get that on record.

Expanding - Isaak Oserov

Despite Lt. Berg’s objections, I believe the colony is now stable, and sufficiently safe for additional personnel. I recently received word from you that the new colonist screening is completed, and I’d appreciate them being sent through as soon as possible. We have our basic infrastructure, we require specialists to move on to the next step.

Missing Person - Lt. Berg

Lt. Berg reporting in. Dr. Lindburg just informed me that they’ve lost Dr. Sarin somewhere in the ruins. How they managed that, I don’t know, but she sounds pretty sure about it. I knew those ruins were trouble, we shouldn’t have been exploring them already. I’ll have a full report once I go over the info myself, but looks like we have our first missing person case.

Operational - Dr. Maja Lindburg

First log of the new research outpost, Head Researcher Lindburg. The alien habitation is remarkably intact, though the conditions are unpleasant. The structure is built into a cliff face, dug deep into the stone. The walls are made of a Tungsten alloy to withstand the intense heat they seem to have been purposefully generating. Mek’s Salamander synths perform admirably, but it will take time to develop heat-resistant versions of all the equipment we require.

Jackpot - Dave Sumner

Bet you’ll like hearing this. We’ve found ruins here, and we don’t think they’re Ikatomi either. There’s a sprawling habitat built into the side of a canyon. We’ve done some drone recon, but we really need the supplies for a proper base over there. The thing looks like it might be in pretty good shape too, the chance of valuable alien loot is high. So, mind sending us more people and blueprints?

Resources - Dr. Ajit Sarin

I understand that resources are limited, but what is the point of sending a xenobiologist without the ability to study this planet’s major habitat? Yes, the land creatures are fascinating, but limited, and the ocean is where the truly biological riches are found. The Gatecrashing team clearly had a submersible vehicle, based on these tantalizing recordings, I find it hard to believe the colony can’t have the same. This is the sort of thing that makes me question leaving Mars.

Trouble - Mek

Hey, problem here. Oh, this is Mek, been handlin’ base security sort of. We got really attacked just a few hours ago. Crazy things, fast, big, sensors didn’t get much of a readin’. Took down a few of the synths, though the egos are fine, and did a number on one of the tin cans. We’re gonna need an early supply run to fix stuff up, and more security would be cool too. Garcia’s been grumpin’ about not gettin’ stuff we need even before this. Some sort of problem goin’ on back there, or just expecting us to handle it?

Logistics - Miranda Garcia

Garcia reporting in again. Nothing really new to report. After those first few hiccups, things have been going smoothly. The new hauler has been a big help, and we’re finally at what I’d consider a reasonable, livable point for synths. If you want to send in that preliminary science team, it’s got my approval now.
